You Are Remembered

Have you ever felt forgotten?

Verse of the Day

‘Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! See, I have written your name on the palms of my hands.’

Isaiah 49:15-16

Today’s Devotional

There have been times in my life when I have felt forgotten by God.  I struggled with chronic pain for 13 years of my adult life.  It was a difficult time, and often I wondered where God was.

Today, I can look back on that time and KNOW that God was with me the entire time.  Which encourages me today that no matter what I am facing or feeling, God is there.  God does not get so busy running the earth and the heavens that He forgets about me.  He is so big and so powerful that He can hold each of us in His mind at all times.

I love that this verse reminds me that, as a mom, I can never forget my girls.  There is never a time when I don’t love them and want what is best for them.  God’s attention and affection for each of us makes my love for my girls pale in comparison.

It is simply not possible for God to forget you.  Your identity is that you are so important to God that He has your name written on His palms.  BOTH OF THEM. Enduringword.com says, “This has an obvious and beautiful fulfillment in the nail-scarred hands of Jesus. As Jesus told Thomas in a post-resurrection appearance, look at My hands (John 20:27). When we see the nail-scarred hands of Jesus, we see how He has inscribed us on the palms of His hands. With such love, how could God ever forget His people?”

We don’t have to think of the nail-scarred hands of Jesus with a sense of shame. What Jesus might want us to remember is, “I did this for you, so we could be together forever. You are that important to me.”

If God says that he simply cannot forget you, that means there is never a moment where He is not remembering you. You are that important to Him. Do you believe that?
