How it Works

General Info:

  • I generally write in themes.  For instance, the current theme is “COMFORT”.  In my experience, it takes time to really understand a topic through the lens of Scripture.  So we spend days and weeks on the same theme using different verses for each day.
  • Each entry starts with a verse or section of verses from the Bible.
  • Next is the devotional.  These are just thoughts about that day’s verse and theme from one Jesus seeker to another.
  • Last is the journal prompts.  There are almost always several questions.  You DO NOT have to answer all of the questions each day.  One or two of the questions for each day will generally feel more relevant to you.  Answer those, or just one.  Or none.  You have permission to write about YOUR thoughts and prayers after reading that day’s verse.
  • Feel free to leave a comment, if you choose.

What I do in my journal:

  • I put the date at the top right of the page.
  • I write the day’s verse at the top, and cite the book, chapter and verse.
  • Then I answer one or more of the questions.
  • I follow my answer with praise and prayer and anything I need to pour out to God.
  • I try to always include gratitude. (I admit that sometimes I forget that.)

Challenge:

Try it for 30 days. Look back over your journal at the end of the 30 days. See if you notice the difference. If you’re feeling really generous, drop us a line and tell us how it’s going!
