What you need:
- Whatever device you are currently using
- Some kind of journal (or spiral, or legal pad, whatever)
- A pen.
Seriously. That’s it.
Why we are so big on journaling:
- We have seen it work in our own lives.
- Writing things down helps you to make your thoughts linear, instead of the squirrely pattern they have inside your head.
- Writing down your prayers allows you to more clearly see how God answers them.
- Writing during your spiritual journey allows you to see your own growth.
- Writing in this way helps you identify emotions and areas of struggle that you could not otherwise identify.
You have permission to:
- Have messy handwriting
- Misspell words
- Have incorrect grammar
- Use as much or as little punctuation as you want
- Use whatever kind of journal you have access to
- Keep your journal in a place where others won’t read it
- Get overly excited when it’s time to buy a new journal because your current one is almost full
- Put stickers on your journal
- Use whatever kind of writing instrument that makes you happy
Bottom line: There is no right or wrong way to journal. It’s about you and God.
Challenge:
Try it for 30 days. Look back over your journal at the end of the 30 days. See if you notice the difference. If you’re feeling really generous, drop us a line and tell us how it’s going!
