Stop and think about that for a minute. Jesus is the exact representation of God. So if I want to know God, or know more about God, I need to look at Jesus. I used to get a little jealous sometimes of the disciples who got to spend so much time with Jesus.

The Word, which is Jesus, became flesh. The fact that this is even possible points to the deity of Jesus. The fact that God the Son chose to “make his dwelling among us” shows me His love and compassion. This makes me think of missionaries who move to foreign lands for years in order to build relationships with the people they are trying to serve.

I think sometimes we discount the gravity of this part of Jesus’s story for all of the players involved. Joseph had to make a choice. Would he listen to the angel’s message, given through his dream?
