What’s the opposite of diligence? Clearly, it’s laziness. This is one of my major character defects. I could win a medal if laziness were a competition. But I love how this verse is unfolding in my heart as I have studied it.

At first glance, I don’t like this verse. I don’t like the thought that obedience is learned through suffering. I mean, I know that to be true in my life. I have learned to be obedient in certain things by going through some very difficult seasons of suffering first.
